Plotter Paper

Plotter paper is a special type of wide format paper used with plotter machines and large format printers, such as the HP Designjet. Plotter machines and wide format printers are used by architects and graphic designers in order to create blueprints, they are also used for printing with software programs and other drafting and technical drawing programs, that are creating and printing vector type graphics. Plotter paper is usually sold by the roll.

There are several types of plotter paper available in different sizes and textures:
• Coated and Uncoated Plotter Paper
Uncoated bond plotter paper is used when printing black and white line drawings. Uncoated plotter paper is designed for high-resolution, sharp line drawings and limited areas of pastel shading in CAD or engineering drawing applications.
The coated surface of plotter paper provides superior image quality and colour finish and can be used if demanding a high quality, long-lasting finish. Coated plotter paper is strong and durable, making it perfect for printing large, high-quality pictures for posters, artwork and wall hangings.

• Translucent Bond Plotter Paper
Translucent bond plotter paper is commonly used as an economical alternative to vellum plotter paper. A smooth, uncoated bond paper is transparent enough for blueprints and is compatible with inkjet plotters and engineering copiers.

• High Gloss, Semi-Gloss, Matte Plotter Paper
Plotter paper, that is suitable for high resolution photo prints, usually features high gloss, semi-gloss or matte plotter paper finish. Most people tend to choose the gloss finish plotter paper, as it produces a great finish, but it might leave fingerprints, if not handled carefully.

• Speciality Plotter Paper
Some wide format papers are designed with specific printing needs in mind. There are heavy canvas blends, featuring water resistance, available for fine art prints as they hold ink very well. 	"i have tried using some other brands for this size of plotter paper but in fairness not a single one that would even close to the quality of the HP C6035A. this one here is really white while some of other ones that i have purchased simply were kind of like white. it is better to spend a small bit extra and get a really good paper roll than be frustrated with poor results that you might get when using dodgy brands. and in fairness it doesn't cost a fortune here."

	"We often use the HP C6035A DesignJet Paper Roll (610mm - 90gsm) for ordnance maps. The HP DesignJet paper is far better quality to some of the cheaper versions you can pick up for half the price. We tried using the cheaper paper a while back but our customers started to complain about the quality. We now strictly use HP DesignJet paper."
