Saline solution is a solution comprising of a mixture of water and salt in a strength that is similar to tears and it is recognised as a most effective and most commonly used solution for eye wash first aid. Where mains tap water is not readily available, at least 1 litre of sterile or normal saline (0.9%), in a sealed diposable container should be provided.
