What Do You Need To Know About Your Coffee?
Characteristics of Coffee: There a few coffee flavour describing characteristics like flavour (nutty, chocolaty, etc.), acidity (tangy), body (velvet, smooth, rich, etc.) , aroma, finish (aftertaste), intensity (usually marked by producers in the scale from 1 to 6), balance… Your coffee characteristics may vary depending on its type, origin, roasting levels or preparation method.
Types of Coffee Beans: Most of coffee beans originate from equatorial Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa. The two most common sources of coffee are Arabica and Robusta coffee beans. There are a few main differences between Arabica and Robusta coffee beans: Arabica coffee beans are more expensive to source as the Arabica coffee plants are more vulnerable to various environment factors that influence their growth. Robusta beans have higher caffeine content than Arabica beans that are considered to make smoother and not so bitter coffee. Coffee that meets the highest standards demanded will most likely be produced using 100% Arabica coffee beans, but some coffees (e.g. most of the instant coffees) are made with a blend of Arabica and Robusta beans to improve flavour while keeping costs down. Coffee berries and their seeds undergo several processes before they become the familiar to us roasted coffee.
Coffee Roast Levels: The highest effect upon coffee flavour and body has the green coffee bean roasting process. Depending on the colour of the roasted coffee beans, they are labelled as Light, Medium or Dark Roast Coffee. Darker roasts are generally bolder and a more sugary flavour. Lighter roasts have a more complex and stronger flavour. Most coffee beans are sold already roasted and their roast degree is usually indicated on a pack. Whole Bean, Ground and Instant Coffee: Some of the roast coffee is available to buy whole bean, but the most commonly it is available to buy pre-ground. Another very popular type of coffee is instant coffee.
•Coffee Beans: Some of the roast coffee is available to buy whole bean. Whole beans will give you a fresher coffee cup and you can decide your own level of grind coarseness, as usually coffee brewing method depends on how the coffee is ground. There various coffee grinders and bean-to-cup coffee machines available for this purpose.
Check out Huntoffice range of 100% Arabica coffee beans from various origins. Whether it is Fairtrade or organic, dark or medium roast coffee beans you are looking for in Huntoffice coffee beans section you surely fill find something to choose from.
•Ground Coffee: Most commonly coffee is available to buy pre-ground in various grind levels from coarse to fine ground. The type of grind is often named after the brewing method for which the ground coffee is recommended to use (e.g. filter coffee, espresso coffee, Cafetière blend coffee). Ground Coffee may be brewed by several manual and automatic methods (drip filter coffee machines, espresso makers, french press coffee plungers). The choice of ground coffee brewing (preparation) method depends on the degree to which the coffee beans have been roasted and on the level of their grind coarseness and the brewing equipment you have. There are many methods for preparing a perfect cup of coffee. The method you choose for brewing your coffee should be based on what kind of coffee you prefer to get as a result.
Choose from Huntoffice selection of dark or medium roast ground coffee for use with variety of ground coffee makers: pump and filter coffee machines, manual plunging coffee makers such as cafetière/coffee plungers.
•Instant coffee: is a beverage derived from brewed coffee beans. Instant coffee is usually prepared by freeze-drying coffee brew. Instant coffee is available in powder or granulated form and is usually packed in glass jars, sachets or tins. Recommended amount of instant coffee to make one cup of coffee is usually 1 teaspoon (approx.2 g), although you can control the strength of your coffee, by adding more or less coffee granules or powder to the hot water . Advantages of instant coffee include speed of preparation (instant coffee dissolves instantly in hot water), lower weight and volume than beans or ground coffee needed to prepare the same amount of beverage, and long shelf life — though instant coffee can spoil if not kept dry. Some coffee brands also have a range of instant white, cappuccino, mocha and latte coffees available in a form of instant black coffee powder and coffee whitener powder mix with or without sugar added.
