If you need to treat an open wound

When you use restroom facilities

What is the correct way to wash your hands?

It is preferential to use warm water if available.  Wet your hands for a few seconds under the tap before applying soap or hand wash.

Rub the soap all over both hands until it has formed in to a creamy lather. Continue to rub in the soap for 30 seconds.

If you have a nail brush close at hand, it is recommended you spend a few moments cleaning underneath the fingernails.

Once you have this completed, place your hands underneath the tap and allow the water to flow over them. Keep rubbing your hands together until the soap has completely washed off.

Now dry your hands thoroughly using a clean towel / paper towels.

What do I do if there is no running water?

It is always useful to carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer with you when you are travelling to a location where there are few facilities available for hand washing. Although washing your hands with soap and water is the recommended method of maintaining good hand hygiene. Having a hand sanitizer will help eliminate the vast majority of germs and bugs that live on the surface of your skin.
