1. You need to look at your working environment and based on this you should choose a clipboard i.e. if you are working in an office and only use a clipboard from time to time then a standard foolscap clipboard should suffice however if you work in a warehouse or a production facility you may opt for a metal clipboard. 

2. Is your job carried out indoors or outdoors? If your job is mainly outdoors you will definitely need a clipboard with a protective cover for your documents. 

3. What size pages will you be holding on your clipboard? If you are filling out mainly A3 pages then you should invest in an A3 clipboard however if it is just standard documents then a foolscap or A4 clipboard is a better choice.
